Swift: Repeating Tasks

Repeating Tasks in Swift:

Let’s take a look at what programming would be like without loops before we start writing our own. So, we will see repeating tasks in Swift.

Assume you want to create a program that prints “Happy Birthday!” five times

print("Happy Birthday!");
print("Happy Birthday!");
print("Happy Birthday!");
print("Happy Birthday!");
print("Happy Birthday!");

We’re only writing 5 print() statements, so it’s still manageable (or copying and pasting a few times). But what if we come back to this program and want to change it to print “Happy Birthday!” twenty-four thousand times? It would take an awfully long time, and we might still end up with inconsistencies and errors.

Don’t get too caught up in this tedious scenario; in the next exercise, we’ll see how loops can help us out. For the time being, let’s get a better understanding of loops.

Helpful Tools:

Here are some useful tools to help you along your journey!

Setting up an IDE (Integrated Development Environment) can be difficult for beginners. The Online Compiler will enable you to run your code inside your browser without the need to install an IDE. If you need a more detailed explanation of a specific topic, the best place to find answers is in the Official Documentation.
